Quality is defined in many ways – I like this one “Level of excellence; a property or attribute that differentiates a thing or person”.
The purpose of Kvalitetspraksis (Practical Quality) is to heighten the awareness of micro-entrepreneurs that quality is paramount for success - and survival. I am linking professional conduct to quality – if we consistently do our work in a professional way, aiming at a high standard, we will be providing quality and our customers are more likely to return when they need the services we can provide.
Obviously many of us micro-entrepreneurs are qualified within a specific trade or profession and will be able to do work to the standard specified. For instance I am a Chartered Information Specialist and know that as long as I maintain and update my skills, I can carry out work related to my profession. But the extra asset – the icing on the cake – that will make clients return is professionalism and standard of work – delivering on time, a professional business card and homepage etc.
This homepage and blog will document how micro-firms tackle the various aspects of achieving and maintaining high standards of quality and professionalism. I aim to do this by finding what other countries have written on the subject, by passing on the hard lessons I have learned in the almost 10 years of being a one-man-band and also the fantastic tips and links gained from my various networks, in particular Mikronet which is run by and for micro- businesses.
